Keep what you came for

A focused test.
A wider practice routine.

Monkeytype’s minimal interface and extensive customization make it a natural choice for people who enjoy tuning their tests. NinjaType offers a different mix: a quiet place to type, plus ways to work on technique or bring a friend into the session.

Start with a familiar dictionary and a manageable test length. Look at accuracy alongside WPM. If the same reach keeps interrupting your flow, spend a few minutes in a finger lesson before another attempt.

If you love configuring every detail

Monkeytype has its own broad ecosystem of test settings. NinjaType is a separate app with its own options; it does not reproduce that full configuration system.

If you want several ways to practise

Move between a solo test, a finger lesson and a typing race. Your completed attempts stay in local history, where you can review and share a result later.

Keep your benchmark honest: different text, punctuation and test lengths can change WPM. Our WPM guide explains what to compare.

Settle in. Start typing.

No perfect score needed. Just a place to find your next good minute.

A few things to know.

How is NinjaType different from Monkeytype?

Monkeytype focuses on a highly customizable typing-test experience. NinjaType brings configurable tests together with finger lessons, Ghost Race and live friend rooms. Choose based on the kind of session you want, rather than expecting every Monkeytype setting to transfer.

Can I import my Monkeytype account or configuration?

No. NinjaType does not import Monkeytype profiles, histories or configuration files. Your NinjaType attempts and settings are stored in this browser.

Can I change the test length and theme?

Yes. Choose Time or Words mode, or practise quotations, and select a theme in NinjaType’s settings. Keep the same duration and dictionary when comparing your own attempts.

Is NinjaType free without an account?

Yes. Solo practice, lessons and races are free. Multiplayer asks for a nickname and a security check. NinjaType does not require a typing account to get started.
